- High Volume Caseload

- Housing Specialists
In FY2017 cases - 21,502 cases - were referred to Alternative Dispute Resolution where Housing Specialists are trained to mediate disputes.
Housing Courts handle a significant volume of cases where parties represent themselves. In FY 2017, statewide 93% of the tenants in evictions were not represented by an attorney and 33% of the landlords were not represented by an attorney. Click for more data from the Housing Court Department
- Eviction Cases
In areas where there are Housing & District courts, on average, landlords and their attorneys file 4 out of 5 eviction cases in Housing Court.

The Housing Court Department has the lowest cost per case across all departments in the Trial Court.
